The top seed in the tournament, Belgrade- Brooten-Elrosa, defended their perfect record with an 85-76 win over Lakeview Christian Academy on Thursday in the MSHSL Class A Quarterfinals at Williams Arena. B-B-E jumped out early as they pushed the tempo and used an aggressive half court trap zone defense to 19-point first half lead over Lakeview. But Lakeview settled in late in the half, burying seven three's in the opening period to cut the lead to eight at the break. B-B-E forced 10 first half turnovers and smothered Lakeview to a 30.3% first half shooting percentage. Meanwhile, the B-B-E offense was strong and efficient, leading to a 52.9 first half shooting percentage. The game tightened further in the second half, with Lakeview keeping the B-B-E lead in single digits for nearly the first 10 minutes of the second half getting as close to 1-point down. B-B-E finally pushed it back to a 10-point margin with 8:14 to play. They led by at least 8-points the rest of the way to preserve the win. Connor Goodwin was too much inside with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Brian Goodwin had 25 points and 6 assists. Billy Borgerding added 18 points and 9 rebounds for B-B-E. Bjorn Broman led Lakeview with 19 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds before fouling out with 2:25 to play. Josh Plys poured in 18 points on 6 three-pointers off the bench and Anders Broman had 18 points and eight rebounds. B-B-E finished the day shooting 52.5% from the floor and made 16-24 at the foul line to ice the win. They held Lakeview to 38.1% shooting, while Lakeview finished the day with 12 made three-pointers in 34 attempts. B- B-E also forced Lakeview into 21 turnovers in the contest.
