KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo County Commissioners will decide Tuesday whether they want to take a position on the Detroit International Trades Crossing, the proposed second bridge to Canada that has sparked protests in Detroit against the owner of the Ambassador Bridge, who has spent millions on lobbying and TV ad campaigns to defeat the project.  The business community in west Michigan is behind the bridge because they say it will facilitate the flow of goods to Canada.

The draft resolution states that because it won’t cost Michigan taxpayers any money, and it will trigger the release of 2.2-million federal highway dollars for Michigan, that the legislature should green light the bridge.  Action in the legislature isn’t expected until next year, if ever.
