The 2011 issue of the Farmers Almanac says Duluth has the second worst winter in the country.  The annual magazine took a number of meteorological factors into consideration to pick the five cities in the U-S that they say has the worst winter and worst summer weather.  Topping the worst winter list is Syracuse, New York because it is "cold, clammy, snowy and gloomy".  Duluth follows at number two because of its frigid cold and the dramatic transition from a comfortable fall to a bitter winter.  The Almanac also highlighted in their story a cold snap in 1996 when Duluth recorded 164 consecutive hours of below zero temperatures.  Casper, Wyoming, Cleveland and Detroit round out the Farmers Almanac "Worst Five" for winter weather.  The worst summer weather cities were Miami, New Orleans, Dallas, Mobile, Alabama and Corpus Christi, Texas.
