BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- A Kalamazoo man has been formally charged with enticing a minor for sexual activity using a computer. Thirty-year-old Michael Smith is charged with using a My-Space Chat room to talk a minor from Springfield in Calhoun County and her friend into meeting him.
What he didn’t know is that after his initial contact with the 13 year old girl, her parents called police and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s department took over, posing as the girls and agreeing to meet to swap sex for alcohol on Sunday. When he showed up, he also had marijuana. He was immediately taken into custody. Smith could get up to 10 years on the most serious of the four felonies he faces.
