BLAKE SHELTON ON TOP OF COUNTRY CHARTS ONCE AGAIN. Blake Shelton has dominated the charts once again as his hit “All About Tonight” is at the top spot on Country Aircheck and Billboard country charts for the third week in a row. Blake’s enjoying the success happening in his career and wants to celebrate with fans which is why he gets the front part of the stage lowered.  “I try and get my crew to get it as low to the ground as they can so I can step off of the stage and get down in there and get with the people, you know? That’s where the party is happening and we want to be a part of it as much as we can.” Billy Currington’s “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer,” comes in second this week followed by Keith Urban at number three with “I’m In.” Lady Antebellum moves up one spot with “Our Kind of Love,” to number four and Lee Brice rounds out the top five with “Love Like Crazy.”

KENNY CHESNEY SAYS AWARDS AREN’T HIS DRIVING FORCE. This morning the CMA Award nominees will be announced. Kenny Chesney has won five CMA Awards and says although the nominations and wins are nice, they aren’t his motivating factor to make music.  “Have I enjoyed winning Entertainer of the Year four times, yes. Would I like to win it again? Yes. Will I? I don’t know. If I do or if I don’t, it’s not going to stop my creative mind from wanting to do great things.” Other than his four Entertainer of the Year awards, Kenny also won the CMA Award for Album of the Year in 2004.

 

ROBIN ROBERTS SPECIAL FEATURING COUNTRY’S BIGGEST STARS. Robin Roberts who is the co-anchor on Good Morning America will head back to Nashville for the second straight year to host the ABC special In The Spotlight with Robin Roberts: All Access Nashville. The one-hour exclusive will explore the lives of country music’s biggest stars including Brad Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, and Carrie Underwood, and will also share footage inside the private homes of other country artists. In The Spotlight with Robin Roberts: All Access Nashville will air the night before the 44th Annual CMA Awards on November 9th at 10 PM Eastern on ABC.

 

SHANIA TWAIN GEARS UP FOR A COME BACK? Shania Twain has signed with a new management company called Sandbox Entertainment, which is lead by Jason Owen who worked with Shania at her record label, Universal Music Group. Jason and Shania built a close relationship over the past eight years and he says, “We have some exciting plans in the works that will expand her worldwide career into new areas of music and entertainment, which will all be revealed soon.” Shania will be filming a new reality series following her musical come back, which will air on The Oprah Winfrey Network in January.

 

TAYLOR SWIFT DISCUSSES NEW SONGS ON SPEAK NOW. Taylor Swift is known for writing lyrics that address her personal life, and her third album Speak Now is no exception. Taylor dished to Entertainment Weekly about the story behind the lyrics of two songs we can expect on the album. She wrote thirty songs for Speak Now, but only 14 made the cut. Taylor says “The Story Behind Us” describes, “the anxiety, conflict, and awkwardness you feel when running into an ex in public.” “Back to December” is the first song Taylor has written apologizing to a boy. She says, “I was careless with a boy’s heart, and I shouldn’t have been.” Taylor reportedly broke-up with Valentine’s Day co-star Taylor Lautner in December. Speak Now will be released October 25th and Taylor’s music video for “Mine” can be viewed on CMT and CMT.com.


JAMES OTTO LOSES HIS COOL.  At six-foot-five and muscle packed, it’s hard to imagine James Otto could crumble and burst into tears. But with the recent birth of his daughter Ava, James quickly showed his softer side.  “I was pretty calm and composed up until I heard her cry. And then it absolutely broke me down. It was a pretty amazing thing.” Ava Katherine Otto was born August 24th and is the first child for James and his wife Amy.

 

JEWEL HONORS HOLLYWOOD AT THE EMMMY AWARDS. Jewel performed an acoustic version of her song “The Shape of You” during the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night. The song was dedicated to members in Hollywood who have passed away this year including Jimmy Dean, Rue McClanahan, Dennis Hopper, Soupy Sales, and Gary Coleman. She originally wrote the song for a friend who passed away from cancer, and was surprised she was able to debut the song on the show. She says, “It's not recorded and I was really amazed that the Emmys were willing to let me sing an unknown song.” Jewel’s next single will be “Ten” off of her album Sweet and Wild.

 

WILLIE NELSON AND DIERKS BENTLEY TO PLAY AT DE LUNA FESTIVAL. Willie Nelson and Dierks Bentley will perform for a three day benefit concert for the victims of the Gulf oil spill. The De Luna Festival will take place on October 15th through the 17th at Pensacola Beach, Florida. Other headliners include Stone Temple Pilots and Daughtry. The entire festival will be free, due to a 300-thousand dollar donation from the Escambia County Tourist Development Council’s BP funds. Willie is rumored to play on the last day of the festival, but the schedule has yet to be released.

 

JARON AND THE LONG ROAD TO LOVE PRANKED BY TOBY KEITH’S MANAGER. Jaron and the Long Road to Love who is opening for Toby Keith on his America Ride tour was pranked over the weekend by Toby’s tour manager. During his opening set, Jaron was surprised when a shirtless overweight man walked around stage with, “I LOVE JARON!” written on his chest. He even danced on the catwalk for the crowd. Jaron tweeted, “Got pranked so bad tonight on stage by Toby's guys... I'm sure someone has video of it :) I couldn't stop laughing!”

MARTINA MCBRIDE TO APPEAR ON DAVE STEWART’S SOLO ALBUM. Martina McBride has lent her vocals to a track titled “All Messed Up On Love” on Dave Stewart’s new solo album – he’s formally known as part of the ‘80’s British group Eurythmics. Martina’s husband John engineered and mixed the album, and Martina says, “Dave recorded at Blackbird and recorded 15 songs in five days, quite a different pace from the way we make country albums! Then they mixed 13 songs in five days! John loved it and it sounds so great!” There is no word when the album will be released, but Martina promises to keep fans posted on her website.

 

CMA PLANS TWEET AND GREET DURING CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL SPECIAL. The CMA’s will host its second live Twitter feed on ABC.com during tomorrow night’s broadcast of the CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock. Fans can log on to see tweets from artists’ including Julianne Hough, Lady Antebellum, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, and the Zac Brown Band. The interaction allows fans to ask questions and get behind-the-scenes access of the show. The CMA’s  will also be sharing information regarding artists’ tour dates upcoming album releases, and appearances. CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock will air tomorrow night at 8PM Eastern on ABC.

 

COUNTRY MUSIC TO TAKE OFF IN SPACE? Various country artists including Willie Nelson have songs being considered for use to wake up U.S. astronauts on their latest mission which launches in November. NASA is holding a contest for fans to choose two songs from the list, which includes Willie’s “On the Road Again,” Alan Jackson’s “Where I Come From,” and Aaron Tippin’s “Big Boy Toys.” Other artists on this list include The Beatles, the Foo Fighters, U2, and many others. Fans can vote at songcontest.nasa.gov/top40.

 

TRACE ADKINS’ FORMER LABEL RELEASING GREATEST HITS PACKAGE. Trace Adkins' former record label will release a two-album compilation, The Definitive Greatest Hits: Til the Last Shot’s Fired, on October 12th. The 28-track collection from Capitol Nashville follows his career with the label from his 1996 debut single, "There's a Girl in Texas," through 1999's "All I Ask for Anymore." The album will also feature his three number one  singles "You’re Gonna Miss This,” “(This Ain’t No) Thinkin’ Thing” and “Ladies Love Country Boys.” In January, Trace announced plans to move from Capitol to Show Dog-Universal Music, a company headed by Toby Keith.

  • Tonight, live from Music Row, CMT.com will stream a special concert performance by the band Trailer Choir at 8:00 PM Eastern. The band will take questions from a select audience of contest winners, and deliver such fan-favorite songs as “Rockin’ the Beer Gut,” “Off the Hillbilly Hook” and their brand new single “Shakin’ That Tailgate.” 
  • The McClymonts have been added to Jason Aldean’s fall Wide Open tour. The three sisters from Australia have recently released their debut album Chaos and Bright Lights which has been certified Gold in Australia.

  • PARIS WILL BE CHARGED WITH DRUG FELONY! TMZ reports that Paris Hilton will be charged with a drug felony for possession of a controlled substance. She was pulled over by Vegas police on Friday night and the cops found .8 grams of cocaine in her purse. If convicted of the felony charge, she could go to prison for up to four years.
    • EXTRA NEWS! HILTON THANKS FANS FOR SUPPORT! On Sunday, Hilton posted a tweet thanking all her fans for their “love and support.”
    • TIDBIT! Hilton was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession in South Africa during the World Cup a few months ago, but was released without a charge.
  • BULLOCK CALLS HER SON “CROWN PRINCE”! Today show host Matt Lauer recently sat down with Sandra Bullock, and the actress talked all about her son, Louis. She told the Matt that Louis is the first boy in her family, is like their “crown prince,” and she calls the seven-month-old her “little Cajun cookie.” You can see the full Bullock interview on this morning’s Today show.   • SNOOKI ENGAGED? Snooki’s boyfriend, Jeff Miranda, seems to have proposed to his Jersey Shore girlfriend. However, he did it in an unusual way. Miranda is pictured on the cover of Steppin’ Out magazine on one knee with the headline “Jeff Miranda Has a Question for Snooki: Will You Marry Me?” Jeff, by the way, is wearing a khaki bucket hat, fatigue pants and combat boots with no shirt on. The pair was photographed holding hands in Fredericksburg, Texas this past weekend. Two weeks ago, Kat confirmed on Twitter that she was dating James, but then quickly took that tweet down.   • HOT COP MOVIE! Both Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper have been tapped to star in a new, as yet untitled, buddy cop flick. According to People, the film will be an “edgier, R-rated version of the Lethal Weapon series.” Before that, Reynolds will be starring in Green Lantern, when it hits theaters in the summer of 2011.
  • VANESSA WILLIAMS ON DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES! Vanessa Williams will appear in the new season of Desperate Housewives. A new promo for the series just hit the Internet and features the show’s cast with Williams. Check out the season premiere of Desperate Housewives on Sunday, September 26th at 9 PM Eastern on ABC.
  • GEORGE CLOONEY ON GAY MARRIAGE! Backstage at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, George Clooney chatted about the recent events concerning gay marriage in our country, stating that he views marriage equality as a civil right. You can see Clooney in the new film The American, which is in theaters Wednesday.
  • FAWCETT’S FATHER DIES. The late Farrah Fawcett’s 92-year-old father James has died. Fawcett’s son, Redmond O’Neal, attended the funeral services, which were held on Friday in Houston, Texas. Read more at RadarOnline.com.
