And I think what is great with country music; it will really help put a highlight on that. Because you know, in country music we demand a good story and we demand a great lyric. We aren’t going to let something get by on the radio that’s just oh baby baby and let that be a hit. We demand a well written song.” Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts will take the stage tomorrow night to perform on American Idol and Shania Twain will be the contestants mentor this week.

COUNTRY MUSIC NEWS

KENNY CHESNEY’S VIEW OF THE BIG SCREEN. Kenny Chesney recently sat down with CMT.com to discuss his role in his concert film in theaters nationally, Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D. Though he’s excited for fans to see the memories made throughout his 17-year career, he doesn’t enjoy watching himself on the big screen. “I still hate seeing myself onscreen. I think videos are a necessarily evil,” Kenny says. “It was a little easier to watch myself in the last three or four years than it was the first three or four years that I started. I mean, I had a mullet, dude! I was trying to be George Strait!” It’s obvious Kenny would rather work behind the camera, so don’t expect him to be the next Brad Pitt. I love making music too much. And to do that it would just take away from what I think I do best. I've got some friends that do it very well. But I see what it's taken of their time.” The rest of Kenny’s interview can be found on CMT.com.

SHANIA TWAIN AND RASCAL FLATTS ADDED TO AMERICAN IDOLRascal Flatts will perform Wednesday on American Idol when Shania Twain returns to the show as a mentor. Later, Charles Kelley sits down next to Taylor Swift and Keith Urban’s seat and jokes with Taylor’s cardboard cut-out about their great friendship and jokes. GATOR 911 ALL STARTED WITH AN ALLIGATOR AND A POOL. Gary Saurage of CMT’s Gator 911 was just minding his own business capturing alligators as a way of making a living in Beaumont, Texas until one assignment got him a lot of attention. “I caught an alligator in the swimming pool a guy was about to jump in for a swim. He happened to look down and there was a six foot alligator in there. I was frustrated with the alligator because he kept staying in the deep part so I just jumped in and caught it. The news media was there and that went to Fox and friends nationwide. That really started blowing things up.” CMT’s Gator 911 airs tonight at 9 Eastern followed by Danger Coast, only on CMT.
