Dreaming about a Ringing Phone... Posted February 24, 2010 by Lauri Loewenberg

"If the dream is a translation of waking life, waking life is also a translation of the dream." - Rene Magritte

Dear Dream Zone,

I dreamed that I was at my mom's house and my family was over. I kept hearing me cell phone ring and couldn't find it. So I would cut open a little square out of someone's head and look into their brains and see that my cell phone was tucked away in their brain. So I would just take it out and answer my phone. The same thing kept happening over and over and I would cut open another person's head and find my cell phone tucked away in their brains. I laugh every time I think of this dream. – Toni 26, Lakewood, CA

Lauri: This dream is actually about the way you communicate with others and with your family in particular. It shows that when someone reaches out to you (the phone ringing) you're able to "get inside his or head" and really understand them. Has anything happened recently in your family where you took on the role of "the great communicator?" What issue is causing you to try to “get inside someone’s head” in order to understand where he or she is coming from?

Toni replies: This actually does make some sense. I am planning my wedding and I have had some issues with my family. Some of them are not very happy about the way I am planning it because it is very small and simple. Lately I have had to communicate how I feel and how I want things to run but at the same time I have been trying to understand where they are coming from rather that getting upset with them.

Dreaming About Erasing a Tattoo... Posted February 17, 2010 by Lauri Loewenberg

“The function of dreams is to maintain a correct balance in our lives. A dream puts us back into proper balance. It comes to reveal, not to hide." - Dr. John Baumgold

I had a dream last night. I was about to get my back tattooed. And instead of being at a shop we were out by a lake which was going to be the background for my tattoo. But as I sat there watching the scenery I felt it was too cluttered and wanted the sky with sunrise colors and moon in the background and an ocean not a lake. So the tattoo artist started to erase all the old background from my back. What does that mean? - Lacie 21, Salt Lake City, UT

Lauri: Sounds like you are in a situation or possibly a relationship that part of you wants to be permanent, hence the tattoo, but another part feels it is too complicated and wants to erase it and put it behind you. The tattoo artist is you, your ability to create the world you want for yourself. Your dream is showing you that, unlike a tattoo, certain relationships or issues you have created can be erased if they aren’t working for you.

Lacie replies: I think it has to do with a friend of mine. She just moved to Washington from here in Utah. I love her, but sometimes I can only handle so much of her. She can be a bit of a toxic friend at times. Lately I have been thinking about whether I should slowly let go of the friendship or keep her in my life for permanent.

Fascinating Dream Fact: Peanut butter is a big nightmare giver!! Do not eat peanut butter within 2 hours of bedtime or your dreams may not be so sweet.
